Austin Becker is a native New Yorker whose distinctive musical sound, warmth, and personality have filled rooms around the globe from Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola - Jazz at Lincoln Center (New York), to Bimhuis (Amsterdam), Kulturclub (Zürich), and Neringa (Vilnius).
Internationally recognized as both a sideman and a leader, Austin also teaches and presents clinics for NYC metro area students in order to educate younger musicians on the performance styles, historical significance, and cultural relevance of jazz. He studied at the Manhattan School of Music (B.M., M.M.) and Columbia University (Ed.M.). Austin’s musical conception and sound was heavily influenced from a young age under direct mentorship from Dick Oatts, Steve Wilson, Bob Mintzer, Dave Liebman, Garry Dial, Phil Markowitz and John Riley.
