has been playing professionally for 20+ years and has worked and/or recorded with a wide range of artists including Ellis, Jason, Delfeayo and Branford Marsalis, Donald Harrison, Wessell Anderson, Wycliffe Gordon, Brian Blade, Victor Goines, Roy Hargrove Big Band, John Hicks, The Brand New Heavies, Paul Simon, Wilson Pickett, Daniel Lanois, John Boutte, Mark Whitfield, Helen Sung, Brice Winston, Donald Edwards and many others across the United States, Germany, France, Austria, China, Korea, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Spain, St. Barth’s, Anguilla, Albania, United Kingdom, Italy and Norway.
In addition to playing trumpet, Drye also co-owns and operates a recording studio/production company the Samurai Hotel. There, he has produced numerous recordings (for artists of varying styles), movies, videos and other projects. Drye has worked in the capacity of engineer, writer, arranger and producer at the studio.
Currently, Drye can be heard around New York in clubs like Smoke, Smalls, Little Branch, Zinc Bar, Fat Cat, The Shrine and Silver Lining, as well as internationally, with such artists as Tim Warfield, Lafayette Harris, The Mike Longo Big Band, Glaz Road, Victor Goines, Vondie Curtis Hall and others. Drye has also managed music at corporate events for the Hearst Corporation, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the BSH Showroom in the A&D building for several years. In his capacity, he is responsible for assembling and hiring bands to play for many of their corporate, cultural and social events.
