Later in 2014 she followed up with full length Rock/World/Blues album Science Fiction, produced by Israeli producer Ofer Ekerling. The album features acclaimed musicians Yossi Fine and Yaron Gershvosky.
About Elder… Originally from the small historic farm town of Hanover Pennsylvania, singer-songwriter and multi instrumentalist Tylor Elder, was born to a middle class family of blue-collar workers and was raised to appreciate the little things in life. At the age of ten he begun playing djembe harmonica. Shortly after he picked up the trumpet and during his freshmen year in high school he added guitar to the mix. A self taught musician, Tylor keeps picking up new instruments, citing Lindsay Buckingham and Dave Matthews as inspiration. At 21 he ventured out of his home in Hanover in pursuit of musical and personal growth and began performing at local open mic nights and showcases in Philadelphia where he got scouted by a talent agency. Elder then moved to NYC to work as a musician, actor and model. In 2014 Tylor began performing with his originals and select covers in the NYC TriState area.
How they met... After playing concerts and countless open mic nights Maayan & Tylor, unaware of each other, decided to take their music to the subway platforms of New York and master the art of busking. In March 2016 Maayan traveled to SXSW to busk alongside bass player Michael Robinson and Drummer Tony Bojorquez. By simply arriving in Austin and performing for the festival goers Maayan secured shows and showcase placements.
Inspired by the experience she decided to keep traveling with her music as well as start her own showcase. She formed events company Folkers On The Rock upon her return to NY. The weekly showcases, hosted by Oppenheim, featured singer-songwriters and bands in acoustic driven performances and rapidly became a go to place for the thriving underground Indie Folk scene. After meeting in a jam night in Brooklyn Maayan saw an untagged video of Tylor busking on a photographer's Instagram feed, whom she met during one of her own busking sessions. She then decided to feature Tylor in her event in which he participated ritually thereafter. Gradually he became theMaayan official band’s percussionist.
Things evolve...In August 2016 after a full band tour fell through Maayan and Tylor went on the road as a duo and fell in love with the Idea and the sound. The independent “MoonFire Tour” had stops in Denver, Salt Lake City, Boise, San Francisco and Los Angeles. "The constant interaction and exposure of our music to new people is one of the most inspiring and gratifying experiences to us" the two stated during their tour fundraising campaign in which they raised 5K. As a duo Maayan perform the songs that Oppenheim wrote originally for her solo project along two of Tylors originals. Inspired by the journey they began writing new songs as a team. During their stop in Los Angeles they recorded their first single Way To You, written by Oppenheim at the legendary Hollywood studios, Sunset Sound, with producer David Schwerkalt.
